The Bathing Lovers
Telluride, CO I found these rocks while hiking near Telluride, CO one crisp June afternoon. Multiple exposures were taken to capture the full range of light from the shadows and deep red of the surrounding rocks to the bright highlights of the spring water flowing throughout the scene.
Iris Sunrise
near Telluride, CO After spotting this groove of Iris flowers the day before, I drove in the dark back to this spot to capture the sunrise and morning light over the beautiful flower field. Noticing a yellow flower mixed with the Irises, I framed it to provide a visual anchor in the field of beautiful lavender.
Emerging from the Earth
near Telluride, CO As the sun rose over the Colorado "fourteeners", I found many photographic opportunities in this field of wildflowers. In this shot, I framed the beautiful lupine and waited patiently for the sun to break through the dramatic clouds above. The results were worth the wait!
Mountain Majesty
near Telluride, CO Shooting this Iris field at sunrise, by myself in near silence, was a very spiritual experience. There was no wind and the valley in front of me seemed to stretch on forever towards the majestic mountains of the San Juan Range.

This composition features common shapes in the foreground, middleground, and background to create a 3-dimensional viewpoint, drawing the eyes towards the most beautiful range in North America.

I used a telephoto lens to isolate the bison, capture the most dramatic section of the sky, and keep a safe distance!
In an Instant
Gardiner, Montana After a joyous day of enjoying Yellowstone's grandeur, I was treated to this once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon to capture the sunset with a lightning bolt next to a rainbow. It was pouring on my the whole time, but I was able to hold my umbrella over my tripod and capture one frame of this unbelievable moment as lightning struck from the pink clouds above.
